South Kerry Camera Club Photo Shoot 12-08-2011 Valentia Harbour and Marina

The South Kerry Camera Club photo shoot at Knighstown,Valentia. The original idea  was to take a small boat to Beginish Island to photograph unusual rock formations, but as the evening was so foggy, with fine rain, this was abandoned, and the members took photos around the harbour and marina instead. A total of nine members and four guests attended, which is very commendable considering the inclement weather, even so all attending appeared to be enjoying the experience, and the evening finished with a kind invitation from Richard for tea and coffee, and biscuits in the Valentia life boat station club room.

A Typical small fishing boat.

The Valentia lifeboat, it sports two 1250hp engines, and can run  at 25knots

The Royal Hotel and clock tower Valentia.

2 x 50hp outboards, she can suck some fuel flat out!

Most small boats were sporting new looking paint jobs from proud owners.

It's important to tie up securely.

The next few photos show birds that use one of the spare mooring pontoons as a resting place.

A couple enjoying a cuppa and a chat!

An East Cardinal buoy, this should be passed on its easterly side, and indicates danger to its westerly side.

Gauges for Port and Starboard 50hp engines.
