Michael Herrmann, our club pro, & trip organiser.

Members and guests waiting to go!

Port Magee harbour

Leaving the Harbour for the Skelligs

Another of the small boats following us out!

Photo taken along the banks of the harbour approach.

Our first view of the Skelligs, Little Skellig on the left, Skellig Michael on the right!

These boats run at about 18 knots, so they can soon cover the 18+ miles to the rock

Little Skellig on the Starboard side.

This island is completely covered in birds, and cannot be landed on.

The old mans face above on left of photo!

Skellig Michael dead ahead!

Our trusty professional Michael Herrmann on the left, wide angle lens loaded!

The green of the vegetation on Skellig Michael!

The landing pier.

Now on the rock!

My first Puffin of the day!

From here on are beautiful scenes everywhere!

Members checking the equipment!

This photo caught my eye!

He just sat and posed!

Climbing towards our first stop, the current lighthouse!

Lets dance!!!

At our first stop the lighthouse!

The winding path in the background, is where we head next.

The current light behind us as we climb to the old light!

Current light well behind us now.

Winding our way to the top!

At last the old light is reached.

The current light is well below us now!

The ruins of the old dwellings!

The remains of a two story house!

The old light tower with no roof left!

The remains of the old staircase to the light!

Add caption

A very ornate structure to the old light!

Some detail of the old light!

One of our members John Dowd, is a well known Irish mountain climber, and has scaled to the peak of this rock.

Don't go near the edge is hundreds of feet to the water!

Where the rock was blasted to build the old light, there was just enough room to construct the light, see how close it gets to the rock higher up!

A bedroom of an old dwelling just hanging on the cliff edge!

Wow good measuring to construct this close to the rock face!

Our professional Michael, with a couple of members!

Well above the current light!

Where the staircase to the upper floor was originally fixed to the wall.

Yours truly feeding a gull some of my packed lunch, 'Birdman of Alcatraz' comes to mind!...Lol

He even stole a piece of my chocolate bar.
This gull sporting his ring on his right leg!

A long way down even to a high dive specialist!

Michael inside the current reflector!
