My Equipment

My Cameras of choice are a pair of Pentax K5, weather sealed bodies. I love these cameras because of their capabilities. They have an amazing ISO range from 80-51200, so its almost impossible for these cameras to miss a photo, even in very dark conditions.

The K5 was the top of the range Pentax , but has now been replaced by the K3, that is now on my wish list.

The Battery Grip, with extra battery + buttons for most camera functions. The grip allows easy one hand holding of the camera by extending the hand hold area, and of course extends the camera battery range.

I started out with the Std 18-55 kit lens, but have now upgraded to this much faster Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 Wide tele macro, a nice wide to standard lens + petal type hood, This is the second version of the lens with a 72mm filter, and maintains F2.8 throughout the zoom range.

A Sigma fast 50mm  F1.4 Prime lens, ideal for portraits and low light situations. This lens is a full auto, with manual override  and hyper sonic focus motor

The Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 Macro. Great fast lens, good for weddings.

An older Pentax lens from my Z1-  28-200 a nice all round lens wide to tele. This has big glass 72mm filter! and covers a wide rage when traveling.

.

55-300mm tele macro, a good multi purpose zoom covering a good range of possible photos.

My Sigma 170-500mm super telephoto, mainly for bird photography. This lens has big glass 82mm filter.

A Pentax 50mm Prime  A 1.7. although a manual focus only lens, it is a fine one, to produce portraits with good Bokeh, and is useful in low light situation when you don't want to use flash.

2 x Auto Tele Converter, doubles the length of any attached lens

Pentax AF 540 FGZ + off camera and power pack facilities

My studio lighting setup, I use a couple of backdrops, Black & White, 3 x 250w strobe flashes, (with built in modeling light), Softboxes, Umbrellas, Barn doors and Coloured gels, Honeycomb,  and will be offering portrait work to clients. This lighting system is portable and can be taken to your location if required.

My Sekonic light meter as used in my studio work.

My Tripod is a Vanguard Alta Pto with ball head. This tripod is very versatile, with multi-position legs, and a central column that can operate at many angles. It has double spirit levels to ensure that the camera is correctly orientated, both vertically and horizontally, when required for a panorama.

ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT:

Monopod, very light to carry when walking, and gives extra stability at slow shutter speeds.

Digital cable release, good for long exposure tripod shots, has ability to time shots from minutes to hours

+4 & +8 ND Filters, used for extending exposure times, and allows wider apertures in bright light.

1-2-4-10 Close up lenses, when screwed to a lens front enables very close Macro shots. (very critical to focus).

hama rotory polariser, adds colour to skies, accentuates clouds, cuts reflections from bright surfaces.
