NEW LIGHTING SYSTEM PORTRAITS

I have just purchased a portable home studio lighting system, that consists of: 3 x 250w strobes, 2 x Softboxes, 2 x umbrellas, one white shoot through, and one silvered reflective, one set of barn doors, coloured gels, remote flash trigger system, Honeycomb grid, and a hand held Sekonic Light meter.  I am learning fast, downloading internet tutorials, and most of all experimenting. I have learnt lots so far, but like any new task that requires conquering,  practice is the most important thing. Below are the first two portraits that I feel, rightfully or wrongfully, are worthy of publishing, with a cry to feel fee to give constructive criticism, corrective advice, thanks for your help!

A good friend of mine! His Mum loves it, so I hope I achieved the required result? I feel I had Just enough light on his Black  hoody to separate it from the black backdrop!

A self portrait of yours truly,  Uuumm as I get older the face is not pretty, then was it ever? but it was the lighting that I was concerned with! trying an added hair light!
