CHURCH AND BEGINSH ISLANDS

On Thurday 9th August, the South Kerry Camera Club visited Church Island and then moved on to Beginish Island for further photos. These two Islands can be accessed from either, Valentia Island or Cahersiveen Marina . The first thirteen photos were taken in Valentia marina whilst waiting for our boat.

The first photo of Church island as we approach!

Before landing we did a 180 around the Island

One eye had to be kept on the weather as the mist was rolling in.

Our boatman on his way back after dropping us off for a two hour shoot.

Club members scouting out the best photo opportunities!

Our mentor Michael Herrmann contemplating a photo!

This is what it takes to get that special shot, my advice is be very careful when trying this, Michael is a very fit man, and wearing suitable footware for climbing!

Michael going for an even dodgier spot...Lol and No! he didn't fall in

A lone monks grave!

All aboard for Beginish Island

Our knowledgeable skipper for the trip.

Deidre test the temperature of the water!

Beginish is usually accessed from a beach on the other side, but we landed on a small shingle beach, Church Island in the background.

Views of Church Island from Beginish!

We had sheep for company on Beginish

    1. Thanks Barbara, the weather closed in fast at the end of the shoot, mist was so bad the boatman was heading in the wrong direction!
