Today 27th January 2014, on a very wild weather day in Kerry, I decided to travel to Rossbeigh beach to Photograph the wreck of the old Sunbeam. I have photographed it several times before when it has been mainly buried in the sands of the beach, but recently extra high tides, accompanied by gale force winds tore it from its resting place, and threw it up to the top of the beach, now resting against the sand dunes.

As I was photographing it, I kept looking at the sea, as it seemed to be getting further up the beach, but only just reaching the boat in very small amounts. While taking the last photo of the wreck, I did a silly thing, I turned my back on the surf, and was rewarded by a freak wave hitting me hard and knocking me off my feet, luckily instinct cut in and I managed to elevate my arm to keep the camera out of the water! I was in water to waist level for a time, resulting in a very wet photographer, never mind we got the shots. The following photos are them taken by me today!
