CRAG CAVES, CASTLE ISLAND, CO KERRY

As today's weather forecast was not very good, and we had our Daughter and Grandchildren visiting, we decided to take a visit to Crag Caves at Castle Island. If you have not visited these caves before, I can recommend it as a todo list item. Our young guide was very knowledgeable about the caves history on the tour that lasts approximately 30mins. The colours in the caves make for some interesting photography, especially if you use a fast lens and an auto ISO setting, as I did with my Pentax K5.

The following are the photos taken today, using my 50mm F1.4 Sigma prime lens, although due to the confined areas, I would probably recommend the use of a wider angle lens to better show the area of the different caverns within. I also decided to use my auto ISO camera mode as I found that using flash detracted from the beautiful colours.

A lot of these photos were taken at F2. and an auto ISO of 25,600, all photos were manualy focused, and all hand held, I reduced the grain using Lightroom 5. The final results are a bit soft from using F2 aperture.

I struggled with focus on this shot with the very low light, but put it in as \I liked the colours!
