A study in purposely out of focus effects on rain drops.

These photos were taken after a wet night, followed by a bright sunrise the next morning. The bright sun made the water droplets stand out prominently wherever you looked, so armed with my 55-300mm lens, I decided to use its macro setting to create very shallow depths of field, and then by setting my camera to manual focus, I could purposely set the lens out of focus to make the water droplets appear like magical fairy lights. I know its not to every ones taste, but its never wrong to experiment with camera settings, that's how we learn.

This and the next ten photos feature out of focus effects, making the rain drops look like little fairy lights.

Water drops like strings of pearls.

Early Christmas lights.

An in focus shot, Red berries on the holly already, a sign of another cold winter!

My friend Spot, Taking a bath in the bog puddles.

All photo Pentax K10d with 55-300mm lens with macro setting.
